Happy 4th birthday, Hallie Claire!

It was wonderful to have Aunt Martha and Uncle Mac in town last weekend visiting from Jackson.  So special to have them at Hallie Claire's party!  The little girls dressed up like ballerinas and had a great time playing in Hallie's room, and we did a dance in the living room plus sang a song at the piano together.  They played "the sleeping game" for about 1 minute!

Georgia loves pushing baby Carrie in the stroller all around our house.

Birthday visit with Gran and Papaw

We visit Gran and Papaw in Electra around my birthday every year in March, and we had a great time this weekend.  We went to church and played at the park by the high school.  After Matthew and Hallie Claire went to bed, we played Train and had a lot of fun.  Reggie came too, and he loved walking around the park and getting extra attention from Papaw and Gran.

Also here is a picture from when Matthew and I went to the Mother Son Hoedown at Allen High School a couple of weeks ago.  We danced the night away!

Advanced red belt

Matthew went through testing at his Taekwondo class and performed a new pattern to achieve his advanced red belt.  It is red with a black line in the middle.  We are so proud of his hard work and achievement!

Also, here are some my favorite photos from Christmas that I hadn't gotten a chance to send yet!  We still love those beautiful stockings Gran made for Hallie Claire and Matthew.

Snow days! And a blast from the past...

"Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes..."

Sweet neighbor friends  - Harrison and Cheyenne

They plucked these icicles that were hanging from the front bumper of my car.

We thought we could hear a lovely cardinal song in the quiet of the falling snow, and here he is on our next door neighbor's roof!

Hallie Claire and I built her first "snow blob," and she insisted on holding his twig hand for the picture.

In these particular pictures I think Matthew looks more like me, and Hallie Claire favors Ryan!

Second grade statue garden

Olson Elementary has an important tradition for the second graders called the Statue Garden.  Every year the second graders pick an important person from history, and they make a special, detailed hat with decorations and sentences describing that person's life and for what he or she is famous.  For 45 minutes they stand still in the gym, and they recite their speech to you if you tap them on the shoulder.  Matthew got his first choice of Abraham Lincoln!  Hallie got to see some of Matthew's favorite friends and meet famous people.

Walt Disney (Ben)

Leonardo da Vinci (Parker)

Pocahontas (Autumn)

George Washington (Ryan)

Clara Barton (Saesha)

Chelsea is also Clara Barton.

Sacajawea (Jordan)

Jordan's grandmother was raised on an Indian reservation, so Jordan's choice was meaningful.  Here Sacajawea is pointing out the way to help Lewis and Clark navigate during their expedition.

Neil Armstrong (Mason)

Pochahontas (Grace)

Laura Ingalls Wilder (Ella)

Shirley Temple (Audrey)

We finish up the morning with a quick hug from Abe Lincoln.
